• Lean Six Sigma Continuous Improvement Technology Training Graduates Eight Mentors

    Last April 25, 2013, eight faculty and staff members of Central Philippine University (CPU) graduated as certified Lean Six Sigma Continuous Improvement Technology Training mentors. The Continuous Improvement Technology Training Program (CITTP) which lasted for about seven months was conducted over Skype by CPU alumnus Mr. Jose V. Alcedo who is based in California, USA.


  • Centralian Social Worker: Hall of Famer

    For having been adjudged as Outstanding Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officer for three years, a Centralian Social Worker recently received the Gawad ParangalHall of Fame from the Association of Local Social Welfare and Development Officers of the Philippines, Inc. (ALSWDOPI). ALSWDOPI is a professional organization of provincial, city, and municipal social welfare and development officers in the country.


  • CPU to host 52nd ACSCU National Convention

    Central Philippine University will host the 52nd National Convention of the Association of Christian Schools, Colleges and Universities (ACSCU) on its campus in Jaro, Iloilo City, May 19-22. This year's theme, "Hands Together in Praying and Serving: Rising Over Challenges in Education Reform",


  • AUDRN 1st National Youth Camp on Local Knowledge

    The Asian University Digital Resource Network held its 1st National Youth Camp regarding local knowledge last April 10-12, 2013. It was held at the Retreat House of the University of San Carlos, Talamban Campus, Cebu City participated in by 46 students and 14 faculty members from 15 different institutions which are part of the said Network.


  • Gonzales, Bunda speak at CPU's 85th College Graduation

    Central Philippine University will hold its 85th College Graduation and Baccalaureate Service with two of its successful alumni coming home to speak on April 14, 2013 (Sunday). Engr. Alan Dale C. Gonzales will speak at the graduation ceremony to be held at 4:00 P.M at the University Parade Ground, while Dr. Nestor Bunda will speak at this year's Baccalaureate Service at the Rose Memorial Auditorium at 8:00 o'clock in the morning.


  • CPU TOP Packaging Seminar Presents Total Packaging Software

    Central Philippine University School of Packaging Engineering will bring Mr. Bill Rehring, President of U.S. based TOPS Software Corporation to Iloilo City on March 19, Tuesday. Mr. Rehring will speak at the CPU EMC Conference Hall during the TOP Software Seminar and Turnover of Donation to CPU Packaging Engineering Department.

  • Works of Alumna Querubin - Tompkins at the Ayala Museum

    World-class artist and Central Philippine University (CPU) alumna Nelfa Querubin- Tompkins' works are currently on display at the Ayala Museum, Makati City, Philippines. The exhibition entitled "Terrain" will run until April 28, 2013 at the Third Floor Glass Lane and Third Floor Cross Stairs of the Museum.


  • Scientia et Fides Volume II launching in March

    The much awaited sequel to the first book Scientia et Fides - The Story of Central Philippine University will be launched on March 6 (Wednesday) 3:00 PM at the CPU Henry Luce III Library. The CPU history book volume II is written by Dr. Elma S. Herradura who co-authored the first volume with Dr. Linnea A. Nelson, former Dean of the School of Graduate Studies and volunteer worker of the American Baptist Foreign Mission Society.


  • The Soundtrack of Our Lives: A Concert for the Dr. Rex D. Drilon Fund

    February 21 marks the death anniversary of Dr. Rex D. Drilon, the first Filipino president of Central Philippine University (CPU). On February 21, 2013, a concert entitled "The Soundtrack of Our Lives" will help start the Dr. Rex D. Drilon Fund to help support scholarships for needy but deserving students and for other related projects.


  • Siladan Qualifies for Two Youth Events in Japan

    Ms. Angeli Monique Gregori Siladan, a BS Information Technology student of the Central Philippine University College of Computer Studies has been chosen as one of the students to participate in the Kizuna Project to be conducted from March 11-20, 2013 in Japan. Kizuna means 'bond' or 'tie'.


  • CPU Outreach Program reaching out to feed indigents in Iloilo City

    Rose Ann Yanson, 10 years old, Grade 3 pupil of NJ Ingore Elementary School in La Paz, Iloilo City is living with her single parent, her father when her mother died seven years ago. She has four other siblings in grade four and grade 3. Her father earns their living by selling corn and native snacks in Jaro. Lunch is not available sometimes as her father's income cannot even meet their family's minimum daily allowance.

  • University Church: One Hundred Years of Fruitful Ministry

    In 1913 Dr. Alton Ezra Bigelow, one of the founders of Central Philippine University (then known as the Jaro Industrial School), opened the Church for Boys. His interest in preaching and translating the Scriptures contributed much to the establishment of the church. Also at that time, Dr. Bigelow started to establish the Bible Department (now College of Theology of CPU).


  • CPU Reaches Out

    Some alumni who are already medical doctors came back to give back. Dr. Elizabeth Sunio, Dr. Joy Ann Guanzon and Dr. Arly Joyce Penuela belong to the pioneer batch of the CPU College of Medicine. They are now connected with St. Paul's Hospital Pediatrics and Family Medicine Sections. Dr. Sunio reports that their College professors informed them of the opportunity to participate in the Outreach Day. "We have come to help, to serve", said Dr. Sunio.

  • Soy Feeding Program Benefits Elementary School Children

    Last September 17, 2012, Central Philippine University (CPU) and its partners launched a Soy Feeding Program in N.J. Ingore Elementary School (NJIES) in Iloilo City. Forty elementary school children have been identified by NJIES as beneficiaries.
