Central Philippine University is ranked 1201-1300 in Asia and 185th in Southeast Asia in the 2026 QS Asia University Rankings.

Being part of the QS Asia University Rankings places Central Philippine University in a regional conversation with more than 1,500 higher education institutions across Asia. The recognition is one more  way to see how the University is building academic quality and international visibility.

No. 349 in the Global Top 500 Innovative Universities

Central Philippine University entered the WURI 2026 Global Top 500 Innovative Universities at No. 349 – a historic first for Central Philippine University. WURI, or the World University Rankings for Innovation, looks beyond traditional measures of prestige. It recognizes universities whose programs create practical value for students, communities, industry, and society.

This makes Central Philippine University’s WURI story especially human. The four recognized initiatives are not abstract concepts. They address coastal safety, smallholder agriculture, renewable-energy research, and electricity access in an off-grid community. They show what can happen when knowledge leaves the classroom, meets a real need, and becomes service.

PROJECT CLEAR: Coastal Localities’ Evaluation and Assessment of Resources

Project Leader: Dr. Dahlia H. Pescos

PROJECT CLEAR brings scientific assessment closer to coastal communities. By examining coastal water quality, environmental resources, and local risks, the project helps communities and decision-makers better understand the conditions around them. Its value is practical: clearer evidence can support wiser local planning, stronger environmental protection, and more informed responses to risks that affect health and livelihoods.

At its heart, PROJECT CLEAR is about listening to a community’s concerns, studying them carefully, and returning knowledge that people can use. The project reflects Central Philippine University’s belief that research becomes more meaningful when it helps communities make safer and more sustainable choices.

APPROTECH: Adaptive Techno-Transfer for Smallholder Agri-Operations

Project Leader: Dr. Aries Roda D. Romallosa

APPROTECH helps move technology from university research into the hands of smallholder farmers and community users. Its goal is not simply to invent, but to make sure an innovation can be understood, adopted, maintained, and used to improve productivity or generate income.

For a small farming household, the usefulness of a technology is measured in everyday realities: Does it save time? Does it reduce waste? Is it affordable? Can it support a livelihood? APPROTECH keeps these questions at the center, demonstrating how agricultural and biosystems engineering can become a practical partner in rural development.

Central Philippine University Wind Tunnel: Impetus to Heightened Regional Wind Energy Research and Development

Project Leader: Engr. Jeriel G. Militar

The Central Philippine University Wind Tunnel gives students, faculty members, and research partners a specialized environment for studying airflow, aerodynamics, wind behavior, renewable energy, and resilient engineering designs. It strengthens the University’s capacity to test ideas rather than leave them only on paper.

For students, the facility turns complex engineering principles into something they can observe and measure. For researchers and partners, it opens possibilities in wind-energy development, disaster-resilient infrastructure, product testing, and applied engineering. The recognition celebrates both the facility and the people who use it to ask better questions and design better solutions.

Hybrid Wind-Solar Energy System

Project Leader: Engr. Jeriel G. Militar

Central Philippine University’s Hybrid Wind-Solar Energy System combines wind and solar power to help provide reliable electricity in a geographically isolated community. Installed at Danao-Danao Primary School in Concepcion, Iloilo, the project supports learners, teachers, and community members by turning renewable-energy research into a working source of power.

The project is a reminder that energy innovation is ultimately about people. A working light, a charged communication device, or a functioning classroom resource can make a real difference in an off-grid school. By connecting engineering with community need, the system shows how sustainable technology can create dignity and resilience.

Education measured by the difference it makes
