“Quality Education” – Seeds of Faith – July 1, 2024

Today, we continue our 17-part Seeds of Faith series on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations, which Central Philippine University proudly supports. Our focus today is on the fourth goal: Quality Education. Our guiding scripture is Proverbs 9:9, which says, “Instruct the wise and they will be wiser still; teach the righteous and they will add to their learning.”

First, value wisdom and learning.

Proverbs 9:9 emphasizes the importance of continuous learning and wisdom. This verse highlights that education is a lifelong journey, and it is essential for personal growth and development. Quality education empowers individuals to make wise decisions, improve their lives, and contribute positively to society.
As Christians, we are called to seek wisdom and understanding. Education is a powerful tool that enables us to grow in knowledge and faith. By investing in quality education, we are following God’s command to pursue wisdom and equip ourselves for His service.

Second, education is a means of empowerment.

The SDG of Quality Education aims to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all. Education is a fundamental right and a key driver of social and economic development. It empowers individuals, especially those from marginalized communities, to break the cycle of poverty and improve their circumstances.

Central Philippine University, with its strong commitment to providing exemplary Christian education, plays a crucial role in this mission. As a church community, we can support this goal by advocating for access to education, supporting educational initiatives, and providing resources for those in need. By doing so, we empower individuals to achieve their dreams and contribute to the betterment of society.
Third, the Church has a role in promoting education.

The church has a vital role in promoting and supporting quality education. Historically, many educational institutions, including Central Philippine University, have been founded by Christian organizations with the mission of providing education to all, regardless of background. The church can continue this legacy by fostering a culture of learning and support within the community.

Encouraging a love for learning and creating opportunities for education within our congregation can have a profound impact. By investing in education, we are investing in the future leaders of our church and society.
As we reflect on Proverbs 9:9 and the goal of Quality Education, let us renew our commitment to promoting and supporting education in all its forms. Let us value wisdom and continuous learning, empower individuals through access to education, and actively participate in creating opportunities for growth and development.

May God bless us all!

Sincerely,
