Central Philippine University

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” (Proverbs 3:5-6 NIV)

CHED Chairman Dr. J. Prospero “Popoy” E. de Vera III visited Central Philippine University on April 25, 2024.

Dear Centralian family,

Greetings!

On April 23, 2024, an awarding ceremony for the 2024 CHED-Philippine Anti-Illegal Drugs Strategy (PADS) Innovative Awards was held at Robinson’s Jaro Activity Center. CPU is actively engaging in such activities because we recognize that illegal drug use poses a threat to our educational institution. We aim to have a drug-free campus where safety is our top priority.

Recently, we welcomed the Regional Annual Administrative and Tactical Inspection (RAATI) Team led by Col. Raul S. Vigo, Deputy Group Commander of 6 RCDG, in connection with the ROTC inspection.  I commend the performance of the cadets and cadet officers.  They represented the University in a noteworthy manner.

CPU continues to provide quality higher education to students in collaboration with CHED, other government institutions, and the community. On April 25, we were honored by the visit of Dr. J. Prospero “Popoy” E. De Vera III, together with his team. They had a brief tour at the Philippine Native Chicken Research Station, the Philippine Center for Packaging Engineering and Technology (the first and only program of its kind in the Philippines), and the College of Nursing (the first nursing school in the Philippines).

We are excited to strengthen and foster our partnerships to build and implement a technology business incubator at CPU.  We participated in the HEIRIT 2.0 University Presidents’ Forum organized by the University of the Philippines Mindanao Technology Business Incubator held at Henry Sy Sr. Innovation Center, Miriam College, Quezon City, on April 26.  It is our goal that CPU becomes an entrepreneurial University in the very near future.

To highlight the importance of democratic participation in the electoral process, we supported the Commission on Elections as they conducted the 2024 Voter Education and Registration Fair with the theme, “Karapatang Bumoto, Simulan sa Pagpaparehistro” at the Rose Memorial Auditorium.  This was a simultaneous one-day activity in preparation for the 2025 national and local elections, which are an important fabric of any civil society.

The remarkable achievements of our students from the College of Medicine are worth celebrating.  They have raised the banner of the University during the  Association of the Philippine Medical Colleges Foundation – Student Network (APMC-SN) Regional Convention in Cebu City.  Congratulations, CPU-College of Medicine!

Also, in the recently concluded Centralian Fest 2024, I would like to congratulate our student leaders and their advisers for a job well done. Your commitment to excellence has not only brought honor to your respective departments, but it has also brought pride to the entire Centralian community. I am grateful for the success of this year’s Centralian Fest.

May we aspire to foster a learning and conducive environment at Central that inspires creativity, innovation, and excellence. All for the greater glory of God!

Dr. Ernest Howard B. Dagohoy
