Two CPU Golden Lions Football team members were taken in with three other Ilonggos by the Under-15 National Team in Manila. The two Centralian players, Khent Brian Valenzuela and James Carl Tuazon (both of Barotac Nuevo) were among the 40 candidates who were selected and who qualified from the regional tournaments in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. Hopefully, these Ilonggos and our CPU Golden Lions Football team members will be among the 25 players of the national team.

The three other Ilonggo players are Jaime Rosquillo (BNNCHS/ Barotac Nuevo), Konrad Keim Sollorin (Ateneo de Iloilo/ Janiuay), and Vincent Jarandillo (Saint Paul School/ Barotac Nuevo). The five were identified in the regional elimination for Visayas during the Festival of Football in San Carlos, Negros Oriental in February 2018.

Emilio Chieffy Caligdong who hails from Barotac Nuevo, Iloilo and a former member of the Philippine Azkal Football Team is the National Team Head Coach. Caligdong said that all qualifiers from all regions will be housed in Cavite City. ( With notes from Edwin Caro Laruan, CPU Sports Director.)
