The Office of the Vice President for Research, Development, and Extension (OVPRDE) officially unveiled its newly launched website, providing a centralized digital platform for Central Philippine University’s research, innovation, extension programs, and academic collaborations.
Central Philippine University moves further into the digital space as the Office of the Vice President for Research, Development, and Extension (OVPRDE) unveils its official website, https://ovprde.cpu.edu.ph, during the opening program of RESONATE 2026: Research and Innovation Week held on April 14, 2026, at the Educational Media Center.
The launch marked a significant milestone in the University’s continuing effort to strengthen the accessibility of its research, development, innovation, and extension initiatives through digital transformation, institutional integration, and visibility enhancement. Integrated into the official University website by clicking the “Research and Development” tab, the OVPRDE platform now serves as a centralized digital hub showcasing the University’s research initiatives, innovation programs, extension efforts, services offered, research and development facilities and their testing fees, and collaborative engagements.
Anchored on the university’s commitment to Scientia et Fides and aligned with CPU’s broader institutional direction toward EXCEL or Exemplary Christian Education for Life, the OVPRDE website reflects the growing role of research and innovation in advancing academic excellence, sustainability, and societal transformation.
A Centralized Platform for Research, Innovation, and Extension
The newly launched OVPRDE website was designed to become the online repository and communication platform for CPU’s research, development, innovation, and extension initiatives. The website provides access such as:
- Research news and institutional accomplishments
- Intellectual property initiatives
- Community engagement programs
- Innovation and startup development activities
- Research publications and scholarly outputs
- Institutional partnerships and linkages
- Events, trainings, symposiums, and conferences
The online platform also strengthens institutional visibility by showcasing CPU’s growing portfolio of externally funded research projects, technology innovations, extension engagements, and collaborative initiatives with government agencies, industries, international partners, and local communities.
Highlighting the OVPRDE Units
One of the major features of the website is the dedicated presentation of the OVPRDE’s major units and centers, each playing a vital role in the university’s Creation-Protection-Utilization (C-P-U) framework for research and innovation.
University Research Center (URC)
The University Research Center serves as the primary coordinating office for institutional research initiatives and scholarly development. Through the website, the URC section highlights its programs and services, completed research, publications, and research agenda.
Community Engagement and Service-Learning Center (CESLC)
The CESLC section highlights CPU’s commitment to transformative extension and community engagement initiatives for 2022-2027 under the theme “Progressive, Secure, and Healthy Communities.” Through this website, the CESLC’s service pillars, programs and services, community partners, and process flow are also highlighted.
CPU Research Ethics Review Board (RERB)
As CPU celebrates the 10th year of the establishment of the Research Ethics Review Board in 2026, the website also features its role in ensuring ethical, responsible, and credible research practices within the university including the review fees.
The inclusion of the RERB in the digital platform reinforces CPU’s commitment to research integrity, accountability, participant protection, and responsible conduct of research.
CPUGAD Technology Business Incubator (TBI)
The CPUGAD TBI section emphasizes the university’s growing innovation and startup ecosystem. As one of the recognized technology business incubators supported by the Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST-PCIEERD), CPUGAD TBI continues to nurture innovation-driven enterprises, startup founders, student innovators, and technology commercialization initiatives.
The website provides visibility to startup incubation programs, innovation showcases, mentorship opportunities, technopreneurship initiatives, and collaborative innovation activities that connect CPU researchers and innovators to industry and market opportunities.
The platform also supports CPU’s long-term vision of strengthening technology transfer, commercialization, and innovation utilization pathways for research-generated technologies.
Showcasing CPU’s RDE-Mapped Facilities
Another major component of the OVPRDE website is the inclusion of CPU’s Research, Development, and Extension (RDE)-mapped facilities, which highlight the university’s growing infrastructure and technological capabilities supporting research, innovation, instruction, and extension.
The website showcases various laboratories, innovation spaces, fabrication areas, demonstration facilities, and specialized centers across the university that support interdisciplinary collaboration and research utilization.
Among the featured RDE-mapped facilities are:
- Appropriate Technology Center
- Center for Mangroves and Marine Biodiversity
- CPU Arukahik Tailoring Shop and Training Center
- DOST-PCIEERD Wind Energy R&D Facility
- Philippine Center for Packaging Engineering and Technology Laboratory
- Philippine Native Chicken Center
- CPU Water Analysis Laboratory
- Chemistry Laboratory
The mapping of these facilities strengthens institutional coordination by identifying available infrastructure, technologies, equipment, testing fees and contact details that may be utilized for collaborative projects, externally funded initiatives, technology development, faculty research, student innovation activities, and community-based programs.
The initiative also supports OVPRDE’s broader goal of improving research visibility, optimizing facility utilization, and expanding opportunities for transdisciplinary and industry-academe collaboration.
Launched During RESONATE 2026
The unveiling of the website became one of the major highlights of RESONATE 2026, CPU’s annual Research and Innovation Week celebration.
This year’s celebration featured the 23rd Faculty Research Symposium, 20th Student Research Symposium, Research Ethics Integrity Day, startup and innovation showcase, research exhibits, externally funded project presentations, technology demonstrations, and various activities highlighting the university’s achievements in research, innovation, and extension.
The launch of the OVPRDE website symbolized CPU’s continuing transition toward a more digitally connected and innovation-driven research environment where knowledge generation is amplified through accessibility, collaboration, and impact.
As CPU continues to expand its research and innovation initiatives, the OVPRDE website is expected to serve as a strategic platform for disseminating scholarly outputs, strengthening partnerships, supporting technology transfer, promoting research integrity, and showcasing the university’s contributions to national development and global sustainability.
