Niel Je Andres, a third-year Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management student of Central Philippine University (CPU), qualified as a grand finalist in the K5 News FM Interschool Live Reporting Competition held on September 27, 2026, at the Robinsons Place Iloilo Main Activity Center.

Andres ranked fifth among 13 contenders in the Championship Round, representing CPU in the live reporting competition.

According to his coach, Pastor Alfred C. Morales, Director of the CPU Student Development and Programs Office (SDP), Andres’ preparation for the competition was supported by the guidance and expertise of Sir Luel Sanchez, Ma’am Carmelle Romero, and CPU alumni JP Hervas and John Fritz Mingao.

Morales acknowledged their contributions, noting that their tips and expertise helped hone Andres’ skills for the competition.

Andres was accompanied by Morales during the competition, where he competed alongside student representatives from other schools.

His qualification highlights the participation of CPU students in interschool competitions and provides another avenue for students to develop their skills in media and communication.
