Project BIDA, a project specifically from the Youth and Leadership Committee of CPU OSVS, aimed to develop the potential of youth leaders by strengthening their understanding of what is leadership, democracy, accountability, teamwork, and civic responsibility. The program gathered youth participants of Katipunan ng Kabataan (KK) assembly members, members of the Culasi NHS – Supreme Secondary Learner Government, SK officials and youth leaders from Barangay Culasi. The activity workshop wanted to inspire the youth to have an active participation in community development while also enhancing their proactive and responsible leadership.
The outreach program consists of various activities such as a building initiative of a proactive leader centered on community discussion, civic canvas activity workshop, an identity mixer energizer, and that encourages collaboration of ideas and communication of skills among the youth leaders.
Our CPU OSVS volunteers together with the representatives from partnered organizations worked together in making this program successful. It also featured speakers who are equipped in community engagement. Module 1: Building Initiative – The Proactive Leader that focused on community leadership was facilitated by Rizzamae Puerta and Lawrence Inigo Somes. Franz Figueroa, Head of CPU OSVS Youth and Leadership Committee, facilitated Module 2: The Civic Powerhouse, giving importance on accountable leadership among the youth.
The CPU OSVS expressed gratitude to the partner organizations who made the event successful. The organization acknowledge its main partner, the KKK – Iloilo Chapter, and to the Culasi NHS – Supreme Secondary Learner Government, the local government unit of Barangay Culasi, Ajuy, Iloilo, including its Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) officials for their support throughout the event.
Through Project BIDA, we empowered youth leaders to lead not with power or simply of promises alone but through action, responsibility, and compassionate service. May this initiative inspire youth leaders to be proactive catalysts of change in communities they serve.
