University President Rev. Dr. Ernest Howard B. Dagohoy leads the ceremonial lighting of the cauldron with athletes representing different departments, marking the opening of UWCF 2026.
Central Philippine University (CPU) opened the University Week Centralian Fest (UWCF) 2026 on September 1 at the University Gymnasium, bringing together the Centralian community for the university-wide celebration themed “Central Spirit: Uniting Generations.”
The celebration is anchored on Psalm 100:5: “For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.”
The opening program began with a devotional and opening prayer led by University Church Senior Pastor Rev. Dr. Amorsolo V. Sian, followed by the singing of the National Anthem and CPU Hymn accompanied by the CPU Symphonic Band.
Students from various departments and colleges gather at the University Gymnasium, with the benches filled as they take part in the UWCF 2026 opening ceremony.
University President Rev. Dr. Ernest Howard B. Dagohoy delivered the welcome message, emphasizing the significance of the UWCF 2026 celebration and encouraging participants to take part in its various activities.
“Today kicks off our celebration of the many facets of university life, and we have a place for everyone,” Dagohoy said.
He also acknowledged the various activities lined up for the celebration, including sports events, musical events, academic competitions, the traditional Mr. and Ms. CPU pageant, the Historic Hopevale Musicale, and the Grand Alumni Homecoming.
“I encourage each of you to participate in these festivities, while also being conscientious of the balance between academics and extracurricular activities, to celebrate with gratitude and to intentionally build bonds that span across the years,” he added.
The program continued with a temperature check and the oath-taking of all participants.

A highlight of the opening ceremony was the lighting of the cauldron, joined by athletes representing different departments and Rev. Dr. Dagohoy, symbolizing the start of the UWCF 2026 celebration.
The program also featured the sashing of the Mr. and Ms. CPU candidates, assisted by university officials and administrators, followed by announcements and the official declaration of the UWCF 2026 celebration.
The opening ceremony concluded with the Unity Dance, which brought together participants from across the university community.
