CPU CHM at Iloilo River Plains Integrated School (IRPIS) for the Seminar-Workshop on Culinary Arts.
The Dr. Lucio C. Tan College of Hospitality Management (CHM) students together with Dr. Myrna T. Luceno and Dr. Armando Hisuan Jr. conducted an outreach activity at Iloilo River Plains Integrated School (IRPIS) on September 25, 2026, providing Grade 6 and Grade 9 students with an opportunity to gain practical knowledge and experience in hospitality and food preparation.
The activity focused on fundamental hospitality skills, featuring lectures and demonstrations on Mise en Place, Proper Knife Handling, and Basic Food Plating. These topics introduced the students to essential practices in food preparation, emphasizing organization, safety, precision, and presentation.
Following the demonstrations, the Grade 6 and Grade 9 participants took part in hands-on activities involving Salad & Salad Dressing and Sandwich preparation. The practical sessions allowed the students to apply the techniques discussed during the lectures while developing their skills in food preparation and presentation. Their active participation contributed to an engaging learning environment where concepts were translated into actual practice.
The outreach initiative reflects CHM’s commitment to extending hospitality education beyond the classroom. By offering younger learners practical experiences, CHM introduces basic hospitality skills, encourages curiosity, and strengthens community engagement through experiential learning.
