BECEd Gems storytellers bring The Very Hungry Caterpillar to life for CPU Kindergarten learners through an engaging session filled with stories, songs, movements, and interactive activities.

The Bachelor of Early Childhood Education (BECED) Gems conducted a storytelling activity at CPU Kindergarten last July 31, 2026, bringing together learners, faculty members, and preservice teachers. The Gems featured The Very Hungry Caterpillar by renowned children’s book author and illustrator Eric Carle, a timely theme for this year’s Nutrition Month celebration.

The Gems storytellers told the story using props that were faithful to the book’s illustrations, engaging the learners through interactions, songs, movements, and fingerplays. The activity supported the children’s imagination, communication, and comprehension as the Gems brought each page of the story to life.

This academic year, the Gems continue to hold a strong partnership with CPU Kindergarten, aligning their activities with the Early Childhood Program, Developmentally Appropriate Practices, and the UN SDGs. The storytelling activity aligns with SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-being and SDG 4 – Quality Education.
