Fourth-year Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Public Administration (ABPSPA) students of the Social Sciences Department of Central Philippine University-College of Arts and Sciences (CPU-CAS) secured first runner-up in the Local Resource Institutions (LRI) Category of the 2026 Local Governance Quiz held on October 19, 2026, at the SM Delgado Activity Center, Iloilo City.

The team, composed of Centralians Lenmarth Karen C. Ili, April Love Palmes, and Rochelle B. Gallega, competed under the guidance of their coach, Atty. Rhona Eresuelo, a faculty member of the CPU College of Arts and Sciences.

West Visayas State University emerged as champion in the LRI Category, followed by CPU as first runner-up and the University of the Philippines Visayas as second runner-up. Iloilo Science and Technology University and Western Institute of Technology were also named finalists.

The competition was organized by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Iloilo Province through its Iloilo Provincial Local Governance Resource Center (IPLGRC), in partnership with SM Delgado Iloilo, in celebration of the 35th Local Government Code Month. It carried the theme “LOKAL NG PAMAHALAAN AT PAMAYANAN: Strengthening Partnerships for Open, Innovative, and Responsive Local Governance.”

The quiz featured two categories: Local Government Units (LGU) and Local Resource Institutions (LRI), with each team composed of three members. Participants competed in three rounds—Easy, Average, and Difficult—which tested their knowledge of the Local Government Code and local governance.
