Dr. Aries Roda Romallosa speaks in the 6th webinar of Laye.

The Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs held the sixth lecture for “Laye: A webinar series on Philippine Statutory and Regulatory Laws” on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 via CPU TV Facebook live. The speaker for the said lecture is Dr. Aries Roda D. Romallosa, Chairperson, Department of Agricultural Engineering and Environmental Management, CPU College of Agriculture, Resources, and Environmental Sciences.

The webinar touched on The Republic Act (RA) 9003, otherwise known as the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000.

During the lecture, Dr. Romallosa talked about the history of Solid Waste Management as well as the signifcance of 4 Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Recover). She also explained some of the important terms in the law such as Waste Diversion, Agriculture Waste, and Biodegradable Waste.

The Republic Act (RA) 9003 provides the necessary policy framework, institutional mechanisms, and mandate to the local government units (LGUs) to achieve 25% waste reduction through establishing an integrated solid waste management plans.

Through the webinar series, the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs aims to enlighten the Centralian community especially students about some recent laws of the Philippines.
