Mr. Rojun Hosillos of the National Bureau of Investigation Region VI was the lecturer for the second webinar.

The Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs held the second lecture for “Laye: A webinar series on Philippine Statutory and Regulatory Laws.” on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 via CPU TV Facebook live. The speaker for the said lecture is Mr. Rojun Hosillos, Special Investigator 3, NBI Western Visayas Regional Office.

The webinar touched on Republic Act No. 10175 or the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012. The said act penalizes acts like cybersex, child pornography, identity theft and unsolicited electronic communication.

Hosillos’ lecture focused on Cyber safety, Cyber threats and Internet Safety. He also discussed about Internet Protection and Application security particularly on password safety, Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP), public wifi, email protection and facebook safety.

He distinguished between traditional bullying and cyberbullying and talked about the risks of the latter.

After the lecture, Hosillos answered questions from students and other attendees.

The Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012 was enacted in the in line with the State’s recognition of role of information and communication in the nation’s over-all social and economic development and the need to protect and safeguard computer systems and networks from all forms of misuse, abuse and illegal access.

Through the webinar series, the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs aims to enlighten the Centralian community especially students about some recent laws of the Philippines.
