Atty. Endonila was the speaker for the first lecture of the webinar series.

The Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs is currently conducting “Laye: A webinar series on Philippine Statutory and Regulatory Laws.”

The first lecture on the webinar series was held on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 via CPU TV Facebook live. The speaker for the said lecture is Atty. Aila Rae B. Endonila, Acting Dean, College of Law.

The webinar touched on Republic Act 11313 or the Safe Spaces Act. The said act defines gender–based sexual harassment in streets, public spaces, online, workplaces, and educational and training institutions.

Atty. Endonila focused on three provisions of the said act namely gender-based streets and public sexual harassment, gender-based online sexual harassment, and gender-based sexual harassment in education and training institutions.

After the lecture, Atty. Endonila answered questions from students and other attendees.

RA 11313 or the Safe Spaces Act penalizes all forms of sexual harassment in streets and public spaces, as well as in online spaces. It also strengthens the administrative mechanisms against sexual harassment in workplaces and educational and training institutions. Another salient feature of the law is that it recognizes that sexual harassment may be committed even between peers, or by a student to a teacher, or a trainee to a trainer.

Through the webinar series, the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs aims to enlighten the Centralian community especially students about some recent laws of the Philippines. The next webinar will be on April 28, 2021.
