Clark Jan J. Quidato and Mark Hendrix G. Lapac won second place during the Regional Biology Quiz Bowl (Tertiary Level) organized by the Biology Teachers’ Association (BIOTA) of the Philippines-Western Visayas Chapter in cooperation with the Biological Society of the University of the Philippines Visayas. The competition took place at the Iloilo Science and Technology University-Main Campus Gymnasium, Burgos Street, La Paz, Iloilo City, on May 4, 2024.

Clark Jan Quidato is a third year BS Biology-Medical Biology student, while Mark Hendrix Lapac is a second year BS Biology-Medical Biology student. BS Biology (Medical Biology) is a degree program offered by Central Philippine University under the Department of Life Sciences.

The competition was participated by seven tertiary institutions: Antique State University, Central Philippine University, Iloilo Doctors’ College, Iloilo Science and Technology University-Main Campus, Iloilo State University of Fisheries, Science, and Technology, University of the Philippines Visayas, and University of San Agustin. The participants from the University of the Philippines, Visayas, and Iloilo Science and Technology University- Main Campus, won first place and third place, respectively.

Asst. Prof. Maricel N. Falguisana and Asst. Prof. Raymund N. Fantonalgo, faculty members of Department of Life Sciences served as the coaches of the CPU’s team.
