CPU proudly congratulates Lt. Gen. Bergante, a Class of 1985 graduate, on his new role as Commander of EastMinCom, exemplifying the University’s tradition of excellence in public service.
Central Philippine University (CPU) proudly announces the confirmation of its distinguished alumnus, Lt. Gen. Luis Rex D. Bergante PA, as the Commander of the Eastern Mindanao Command (EastMinCom). The Commission on Appointments approves the promotion on September 4, 2024, at Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City.
A dedicated CPU alumnus, Lt. Gen. Bergante begins his educational journey at the university’s kindergarten in 1975 and graduates from its elementary and high schools in 1981 and 1985, respectively. His appointment to this high-ranking position marks a significant milestone in his illustrious military career.
As the new commander of EastMinCom, Lt. Gen. Bergante expresses his commitment to addressing the insurgency problem in the region. He emphasizes the importance of community engagement and post-conflict reconciliation efforts in achieving lasting peace and stability.
Prior to his appointment as EastMinCom commander, Lt. Gen. Bergante serves as the 59th Commander of the Training and Doctrine Command, Philippine Army. A proud member of the Philippine Military Academy “Bigkis-Lahi” Class of 1990, he graduates seventh in his class.
