Sigrab Film Workshop participants and Directors smiled for a photo opportunity after a nerve-wracking Film Pitching session.

CPU Communication Circle’s Sigrab Film Festival officially started their month-long event with an intensive film workshop held via Zoom Conference on April 2, 2022. This event was participated by ten production teams from different colleges namely, College of Arts and Sciences, College of Business and Accountancy, College of Computer Studies, College of Education, College of Nursing, College of Engineering, College of Hospitality Management, College of Medical Laboratory Science, Junior High School, and Senior High School.

Sigrab Film Festival is an avenue for Centralian filmmakers to showcase their talents in filmmaking and it also became a platform to promote Western Visayan culture around the world. It is once again a part of CPU Republic’s Virtual University Week and has partnered with Cultural Affairs Office, CineKasimanwa, Western Visayas Filmmakers Network, Film Development Council of the Philippines, Cinematheque Iloilo, and YouVote Global Shapers Community Iloilo Hub, Inc.

The said workshop was spearheaded by CPU Communication Circle, the official organization of communication students of Central Philippine University. It was filled with topics such as Film Directing, Scriptwriting, Set Design, Film Editing, and Cinematography. These was led by renowned Directors Kyle Firmendoza, Kenneth de la Cruz, Dennis Hubag, Arlie Sweet Sumagaysay, and Richard Jeroui Salvadico.

Alyanna Comprendio, one of the participants of the workshop and the producer of the College of Business and Accountancy production team said that they are much honored to be a part of the said event. According to her, it was nice seeing other young filmmakers with the same burning passion for this art.

She also added that this workshop is a must-need for aspiring filmmakers like them since it allows them to have deeper understanding about the world of filmmaking.

The workshop ended with a Film Pitching to assess the film ideas of the different production teams. This is to help them improve their plots and scripts to deliver an amazing film for the event.

Sigrab Film Festival Closed-Door Judging will be on April 19, 2022 at Cinematheque Centre Iloilo. Film Premiere and Awarding Ceremony will be on April 23, 2022, at Rose Memorial Auditorium. The program will also be streamed live via CPU TV Channel Facebook Page and CPU Sigrab Film Festival Official Facebook Page.
