Recipients received their flu vaccine at the CPU gym.

Central Philippine University hosted the vaccine simulation exercise of the Iloilo City Government last January 28, 2021.

As early as 6:00 AM last Thursday, the Iloilo City Public Safety and Transportation Management Office personnel were with their Head, Mr. Jake Conlu at Central Philippine University for the COVID-19 Vaccination Simulation Exercise. Iloilo City Mayor Jerry P. Treñas was also present with members of the Iloilo City COVID Team.

In an interview with Conlu, he said that “We have around 500 recipients from different barangays who will avail today of the City Government-sponsored flu vaccination.” Doctors and nurses in full PPEs administered the flu vaccine to the target recipients during the half-day event.

Asked why CPU was chosen as the venue for the simulation, Conlu explained that it has a large space and good facilities like the Rose Memorial Auditorium and the University Gym. “There is an appropriate security and traffic system”, he added — referring to the number of access gates around the University that they can use for health and security protocols.

He gratefully acknowledged CPU President Dr. Teodoro C. Robles, and the University personnel for their hospitality as politely welcomed them to the campus. Some of PSTMO team members are Centralians.

As the team leader, Conlu is aware of the reservations from some people regarding the final COVID-19 vaccination to be implemented soon. He believes however that, “the vaccine simulation activity will encourage our people to become positive about the coming COVID vaccine. Conlu did not give any specific schedule of the COVID-19 vaccination in Iloilo City. In return for the facility and support of Central Philippine University, Conlu said that a free vaccine will be administered to all the faculty and staff of the university.

CPU Occupational Safety and Health Officer, Mr. Prim Vergara III and Director of Facilities Maintenance & Services, Engr. Rhett Allan Baldonado facilitated the simulation exercise of the government.
