On May 31, the CPU Junior High School Department conferred a total of 349 completers during the 9th Moving-Up Ceremony.
Central Philippine University held its annual Junior High School Department Commencement Exercises in three consecutive days at the Rose Memorial Auditorium. Of the dates, JHS Recognition Day commenced on May 29, 2024, followed by the Honors and Awards on May 30, and the Moving Up Ceremony on the next day, May 31.
Recognizing and celebrating the JHS students’ successes is an exceptional way of highlighting the determination and effort they invested in the whole academic year. During their recognition program, students were given honor and acknowledgement in the various categories, wherein they received a medal, ribbon, and certificates. The following are the recognitions given during the said program: Academic & Literary Musical awardees, Leadership awardees, Scouting awardees, Sports & Athletics awardees, Drum & Lyre Corp Loyalty awardees, BGB Loyaltee awardees, Media Artists of the Year, Dance awardees, English Club Loyalty awardees, Most Outstanding Peer Helper, HS Christian Fellowship Loyalty awardees, Red Cross Youth Volunteer completers, HIS Music awardees, 2023-2024 JHS Provincial Board, Mr. & Ms. CPU JHS 2024, and CPU Queen & King of SSC Hearts 2024.

On the next day, May 30, the JHS Honors and Awards Program was celebrated as a spotlight on junior high school students’ achievements, nurturing a culture of excellence, and fostering a sense of pride in their accomplishments. The said program formally started with the processional of students together with CPU JHS Principal, Associate Prof. Charlett B. Dianala; Assistant Principal Mrs. Ma. Nilfa S. Salanio; Mrs. Cheryl B. Maralit, PTA President SY 2023-2024; honored guests; CPU President, Rev. Dr. Ernest Howard B. Dagohoy; and Basic Education Consultant, Dr. Carmen P. Santos. It was then followed by the musical meditation, invocation, and singing of the Philippine National Anthem conducted by Mrs. Mahaliel D. Celorio.
For the words of welcome, CPU President Rev. Dr. Ernest Howard B. Dagohoy recognized the awardees for their hard work and perseverance. “This is a proud moment for our students as well as for all who have supported them across the years, especially in their academic endeavors,” he said. He also emphasized and warmly congratulated more than 300 honor students and awardees for the Academic Year 2023-2024. The highlight of the event was the awarding of this year’s academic awardees and scholarship special awardees, both from the regular class and the Special Science class.
The CPU Junior High School Department conferred a total of 349 completers during the much-awaited 9th Moving-Up Ceremony on May 31, anchoring on the theme “Filipino Youth: Creating Stronger Future for the New Philippines.” The awarding of certificates was given by CPU President Rev. Dr. Ernest Howard B. Dagohoy, together with Associate Prof. Charlett B. Dianala, CPU JHS Principal; Dr. Esther Rose A. Romarate, Vice President for Student Affairs; Engr. Dany C. Molina, Vice President for Administration; Charissa June G. Deocampo, CPU Registrar; and Assistant Principal Mrs. Ma. Nilfa S. Salanio. A prayer of dedication for all junior high school completers was led by Rev. Cris Amorsolo C. Sian, Senior Pastor of the University Church.
Commencement exercises serve as moments of reflection, times to look back on the challenges overcome, the friendships made, and the knowledge gained throughout the years. It’s a juncture where the trials and triumphs of the academic journey are celebrated and where aspirations for the future are kindled. Congratulations, CPU JHS batch 2023-2024!
