Recipients, donors, CPU faculty and staff, along with Dr. Esther Rose A. Romarate (6th from right), CPU Vice President for Student Affairs, gather for a photo opportunity following the successful Filipino-Australian Foundation of Queensland, Inc. (FAFQI) and the Ilonggo Association of Victoria, Australia, Inc. (IAVAI) Scholarship Awarding Ceremony.
On January 24, 2025, the CPU Student Development and Programs hosted the Filipino-Australian Foundation of Queensland, Inc. (FAFQI) and the Ilonggo Association of Victoria, Australia, Inc. (IAVAI) Scholarship Awarding Ceremony at the CPU Educational Media Center Conference Room.
The event began with the singing of the Philippine National Anthem, led by Ms. Crista S. Huyong, Coordinator of the Cultural Affairs Office, followed by the Australian National Anthem and the CPU Alma Mater song. Pastor Neva Grace Fabila, Associate Pastor for Campus Ministry, then led the invocation. CPU President Rev. Dr. Ernest Howard B. Dagohoy delivered the welcome remarks.
“For number of years now, our alumni and their friends have raised substantial amounts of money for scholarships, primarily for our work students. I commend them for their generosity, and I am truly grateful that several of our work students were able to finish their studies because they were scholars throughout their academic journey here at CPU. The awarding of scholarships today is evidence that there is a strong bond that unites Centralians from all over the world,” CPU President Dagohoy said in his address.
Mr. Ivan Monte, Vice President-External of the Ilonggo Association of Victoria, Australia, Inc. (IAVAI), and Mr. Mauro Somodio, Founding President of the Filipino-Australian Foundation of Queensland, Inc. (FAFQI), also shared their messages during the ceremony. The scholarship awards were presented by CPU President Rev. Dr. Ernest Howard B. Dagohoy, with assistance from CPU Vice President for Student Affairs Dr. Esther Rose A. Romarate and Pastor Alfred C. Morales, Director of Student Development and Programs.
The event concluded with closing remarks from Pastor Alfred C. Morales, Director of Student Development and Programs. In his message, he expressed his gratitude to the Lord of the Harvest for allowing CPU to serve as a living testament to God’s provisions for its dedicated working students. He also extended heartfelt thanks to the donors, benefactors, guests, CPU administrators, program participants, and recipients. Pastor Neve Grace Fabila then led the closing prayer.
