The Central Philippine University (CPU) Golden Lions, representing Iloilo PRISAA, delivered an outstanding performance at the Western Visayas Private Schools Athletic Association (WVPRISAA) Meet 2025, held from February 20-24 in Roxas City, Capiz.
With a strong delegation of 161 athletes and 25 coaches, CPU played a crucial role in Iloilo PRISAA’s dominance across multiple sporting events, ultimately securing the overall championship title in both the secondary and tertiary divisions.
Iloilo PRISAA emerged as the overall champion in both categories, amassing a staggering 235 gold, 104 silver, and 39 bronze medals in the Secondary division. Meanwhile, in the tertiary division, Iloilo continued its supremacy with 212 gold, 81 silver, and 27 bronze medals.
Their closest competitors, Capiz PRISAA, secured second place with 56 gold medals in the secondary division and 37 gold in the tertiary division. Aklan and Antique followed in the rankings.

The Golden Lions showcased their talent across various sports, competing fiercely in Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Chess, Swimming, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Tennis, Dance Sports, Beach Volleyball, Sepak Takraw, and Volleyball. Among the standout performances were the Golden Lions’ dominant display in Athletics, Taekwondo, and Swimming, where multiple athletes clinched gold medals. The CPU women’s volleyball team also impressed, adding to Iloilo PRISAA’s overall medal haul.
Engr. Marc Hermel G. Agriam, Director of the CPU Sports and Athletics Office, expressed immense pride in the performance of CPU athletes and coaches.
“We are incredibly proud of our athletes and coaches for their outstanding performances during the WVPRISAA MEET 2025. Our athletes have represented our school with pride and excellence, and we celebrate every one of them for their achievements,” said Engr. Agriam.
The remarkable achievements of the CPU Golden Lions in WVPRISAA 2025 further solidify the university’s reputation as a powerhouse in sports, setting the stage for future competitions at the national level. The delegation will soon head to the National PRISAA, scheduled from April 3 to 11 in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan, where they aim to continue their success and compete at the highest level.
