On October 16, 2023, in a spectacular showcase of intellect and competitive spirit, Central Philippine University Electronics Engineering (CPU ECE) Team has once again asserted its dominance in the world of academic competitions. The Institute of Electronics Engineers of the Philippines-Western Visayas Student Chapter (IECEP-WVSC) proudly hosted the IECEP-WVC Regional Quiz Bowl 2023 at the Student Services Building (SSB) Conference Hall, Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT-U). A thrilling event that witnessed the crowning of Central Philippine University as the CHAMPION for six (6) consecutive regional quiz bowl competitions.

The quiz show, featuring an array of fierce contenders from various universities, was an exhilarating battle of wits. Participating institutions included Central Philippine University (CPU), Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT-U), Filamer Christian University (FCU), University of Antique (UA), and University of San Agustin (USA).

CPU ECE team consisted of LJ Jesse Macadangdang ECE-4 (Team Captain), Ritchel Mae Suficiencia ECE-4, Aira Almonicar ECE-3, Fredric Mitch Biso ECE-3, Jeff Pablo Cocjin ECE-3, and Louise Angelo Lopera ECE-3. Guiding them every step of the way were the passionate and dedicated coaches, Engr. Gelvie Lagos and Engr. Yeseil Sacramento.

The quiz bowl was a demanding test of knowledge, covering a wide range of subjects, including Mathematics, General Engineering & Applied Sciences (GEAS), Electronics Engineering, and Electronics Systems and Technologies (EST). The questions challenged the participants’ expertise and understanding in these critical fields. When the dust settled, CPU team stood tall, garnering an impressive 95 points. The competition was fierce, but the CPU team’s collective knowledge and quick thinking earned them the well-deserved championship title.

Congratulations to CPU ECE on their remarkable achievement! Their dedication, hard work, and unyielding spirit have once again made them the reigning champions of the IECEP Western Visayas Regional Quiz Bowl 2023. We look forward to their continued success in the future as they carry this winning tradition forward as they will represent the IECEP Western Visayas Chapter to the National Interscholastic Quiz Bowl to be held this October 27, 2023 at Marikina Convention Center.
