Central Philippine University (CPU) and SM City Iloilo have reaffirmed their collaborative relationship by renewal of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on July 30, 2024, at the SM City Mandurriao Activity Center. This significant event saw the presence of CPU President Rev. Dr. Ernest Howard B. Dagohoy, CPU Job Placement Officer Prof. Rouella Cheyenne C. Aberia, SM City’s Assistant Mall Manager Mr. Darrel John M. Defensor, and Senior HR Manager Ms. Irene L. Caumban, alongside SM City Iloilo management employees. This MOU will have a three-year effectivity, ensuring that the beneficial partnership between SM and CPU will continue to last long.

The renewed partnership follows a successful initial collaboration last year in which two interns from CPU’s College of Business and Accountancy were selected for permanent positions at SM City Iloilo. The college did the initial screening of interns and endorsed them to SM City through the Job Placement Office. Mr. Dan Joseph Magallanes and Ms. Edlor Prudente, both a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Business Administration Major in Marketing Management, will assume their roles as Operations Assistant Managers for SM Central and Terminal Market starting October this year after the completion of their training.

This continued partnership underscores CPU’s commitment to bridging educational opportunities with industry needs, ensuring a promising future for our university graduates through the dedicated efforts of the Job Placement Office.
