Come join us as we light up the night and celebrate the magic of the Festival of Lights this upcoming December 6, 2024!
The much-anticipated switching on of the 2024 Festival of Lights and Music at Central will take place on December 6, 2024, at the CPU Grandstand.
Anchored on its theme, “JESUS CHRIST: THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD,” the annual Festival of Lights has become one of the CPU’s signature events, symbolizing the diverse and inclusive spirit of the Centralian community. Organized by Central Philippine University Alumni Association, Inc. (CPUAAI) in collaboration with Central Philippine University (CPU), this celebration will have vibrant installations of lights that will transform the campus into a glowing wonderland.
“I am inviting our students, faculty & staff, alumni, and the Ilonggo community to come over and be our guests and witnesses to our switching on of our lights here at Central,” Dr. Anita Umali-Illenberger, Chairman of the Festival of Lights said in an interview.
After the switching of lights, the presentation and induction of newly elected CPUAAI Board of Trustees (AY 2025-2027) and CPUAAI officers (AY 2025-2026) will take place. Iloilo City government officials have also been invited to attend and witness this remarkable event.
“Take this opportunity as a chance to visit CPU even if you are not an alumnus. Feel welcome and may you enjoy your tour around the campus,” Atty. Jeremy V. Bionat, CPUAAI President shared in an interview.
As of the latest updates, the following colleges and departments will be holding evening programs during the Festival of Lights. On December 9, the College of Nursing will host their program, followed by the College of Hospitality Management on December 10. The Senior High School Department will hold their program on December 11, and the celebration will conclude on December 12 with a performance by the College of Theology and the CPU Symphonic Band.
Atty. Bionat, in inviting alumni and guests to join the festivities, encouraged, “Take time, feel welcome, and renew your acquaintances. Once again, I invite everyone to come to CPU, our dear Central and will enable us not only to renew our Central Spirit but also our faith for Jesus Christ. Merry Christmas in advance and happy new year!”
The lights will be on display from December 6, 2024, to January 6, 2025, and will be open to the public. Further details and arrangements for the event will be posted on CPU’s official website and Facebook page.
