The CPU Nursing Dance Troupe showcases their talent at the Saot Ilonggo competition.

The Central Philippine University College of Nursing (CPU CON) Cultural Dance Troupe made a strong showing in the recent First Saot Ilonggo: Iloilo Dance Troupe competition held at the WVSU Cultural Center on August 21, 2024. The troupe secured the 2nd runner-up spot, showcasing their exceptional talent and dedication to preserving Iloilo’s cultural heritage.

The Saot Ilonggo competition was a significant event launched by the Iloilo City Government in partnership with the Iloilo Festivals Foundation Inc. (IFFI) on July 12, 2024. The competition aimed to highlight the rich cultural heritage of Iloilo and promote local dance traditions.

Competing against other talented dance troupes from various schools, the CPU Nursing Dance Troupe impressed the judges with their vibrant performance. Their dedication to their craft and their passion for Iloilo’s culture were evident in their every move.

West Visayas State University (WVSU) emerged as the champion, followed by Mandurriao National High School as the 1st runner-up. All three schools were awarded cash prizes, and their trainers were recognized for their contributions to the preservation of Iloilo’s cultural heritage.

Khristine Joy Coniza, a proud member of the CPU Nursing Dance Troupe, expressed her elation over the team’s achievement. “This accomplishment is a testament to our dedication, resilience, and the collective effort to bring honor to our university and the College of Nursing. All for CON, all for CPU!”, she said.
