In the CPU TV Channel Program – Updates from Central, Rev. Francis Neil G. Jalando-on, CPU Office of Communications Director and Program Host, interviewed the CEO of Xiamen Effie Overseas Education Co. Ltd. on Thursday, March 23, 2023.

The update was about the preferences of Chinese Students on their choice of school to enroll in the Philippines. The Chinese Executive, declared that “Indeed, Central Philippine University offers high quality education.” “It is why I chose CPU.” Xie clarified the reason why he chose to bring his Chinese students to enroll in CPU.

He added that “the quality of teaching is also maintained, creating a big impact to students of CPU and in particular, the foreign students.” He mentioned the Dean of the School of Graduate Studies, Dr. Rowena M. Libo-on as “hard working and responsive in taking care of the needs of students.” Our Chinese students are hospitably taken care of all their needs from the airport to their accommodation, and in the enrolment process.

Dr. Rowena Libo-on, Dean of the CPU School of Graduate Studies looks on as Benson Xie signs the MOA between CPU and Xiamen Effie.

Xiamen signed a Memorandum of Agreement with CPU in 2020. Chinese students began their online classes last 2021. They will be coming soon to the CPU campus to have their face to face classes.

He said that “I often do researches for better schools on the Internet.” He found out that there are weekly news in the website of CPU and this made an impression. His company also saw the live streaming in social media and they are excited to be part of the activities. More than this, he found out in his research that CPU is one of the Top 15 schools in the Philippines and was ranked by QS World University Rankings.” His research were all validated when he visited the campus and talked to the leaders of CPU.

“We appreciate CPU for doing everything for foreign students.” He learned from Rev. Jalando-on that the University Administration is planning to build an International Friendship Dormitory Building for foreign students. Then during the program, Xie talked in Chinese and invited the students to enroll at Central Philippine University.
