Mr. Efraim G. Alfaras, the graphic designer of the CPU Printing press, won this year’s U-Day Theme Shirt Contest. Alfaras bested 50 other contestants and was given a cash prize of 5,000 pesos.

This year’s U-Day theme “Central Spirit Leading Us Onward as One” is featured in the design. Alfaras integrated the symbols of dove and cross into the shirt design.

“The dove represents Central Spirit, the cross celebrates faith in Jesus, the people below represent Centralians moving as one, in the name of Central,” Alfaras said.

The 51 entries were submitted on August 7, 2019 and were judged by the league of governors, faculty, staff, and alumni. The criteria for judging included quality of concept, design and composition, creativity, and design interpretation in relation to the theme.

The winner was announced on August 15, 2019 by Mrs. Tina Marie P. Hortelano, Alumni Liaison Officer and Over-all Chairman of the U-Day Theme Shirt Design Contest.
