Centralian Browser Privacy Policy

Centralian Browser Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 15, 2026

Centralian Browser (the “App”) is published by the Office of Communications, Central Philippine University, Jaro, Iloilo City, Philippines (“CPU,” “we,” “us”). This policy explains what the App does with information. In short, the App does not collect, sell, or share your personal information.

What the App does

The App gives students, faculty, and staff quick access to CPU’s online resources: the CPU website, Announcements, School Calendar, Centralian Link, and the Feedback form. These pages open inside the App. The CPU AI Prof link opens in your device’s own web browser. The App can also check for new CPU announcements in the background and notify you.

Information we collect

We do not collect personal information through the App. The App has no sign-up or login of its own, and it contains no advertising, no analytics, and no tracking tools. We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos, files, or location.

Information stored on your device

To avoid notifying you twice about the same announcement, the App saves a short list of announcement web links it has already seen. This list stays on your device. It is not sent to us or to anyone else, and it is removed when you uninstall the App.

Notifications

On Android 13 and later, the App asks for permission to show notifications. If you allow it, the App tells you when a new announcement appears on the CPU website. You can turn notifications off at any time in your device’s Settings.

Background check for announcements

About once an hour, the App requests the public page cpu.edu.ph/announcements/ to look for new items. This is an ordinary web request to CPU’s website. Like any website, CPU’s web server may keep standard technical logs, such as the device’s IP address and the time of the request, under CPU’s own website practices.

Websites you open through the App

Pages shown in the App are CPU web pages and are subject to CPU’s website policies. If you fill in a form on those pages, such as the Feedback form, the information you type is sent to CPU or to the service that runs that form, not collected by the App itself. The CPU AI Prof link opens outside the App, in your browser, where that service’s own terms and privacy practices apply. Websites may use cookies, which the App’s built-in web view handles in the same way as a normal browser.

Sharing of information

We do not sell, rent, or share personal information collected through the App, because the App does not collect any.

Children

The App is intended for the CPU community and for general audiences ages 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Security

The App connects to CPU’s website over secure HTTPS connections. We do not store personal data in the App.

Changes to this policy

If the App changes in a way that affects this policy, we will update this page and the effective date above.
