In a show of solidarity for environmental advocacy, the Central Philippine University Senior High School (CPU-SHS) Student Council took part in the nationwide campaign, Let’s Clean Up, Philippines 2024, in observance of World Cleanup Day. The event, organized by the Rotaract Club of Iloilo City, was held on September 21, 2024, with the goal of promoting community involvement and environmental responsibility.
The CPU-SHS Student Council participated in cleanup efforts in their local communities, specifically targeting a central drive held at Barangay Calumpang, Molo, Iloilo City. The activity, which kicked off as early as 5:00 AM, saw students and volunteers working together to remove litter, sort waste for proper disposal, and spread awareness about sustainable practices.
The event highlighted the importance of collective action in addressing environmental issues. Participants not only physically cleaned the environment but also emphasized the role of education in fostering lasting change, demonstrating their commitment to a cleaner, healthier planet.
As part of the nationwide Let’s Clean Up, Philippines initiative, the CPU-SHS Student Council joined countless other volunteers from across the country who took part in various clean-up drives. This collaboration marks another step toward building a more sustainable future, and CPU’s active participation in such activities reaffirms the institution’s dedication to environmental stewardship and community service.
