The following is Xu’s response on behalf of the students:

Today marks a momentous day in our lives. After four years of hard work, with the dedicated guidance of our professors, and the selfless devotion and support of our families, we have finally reached the finish line—our graduation!

First and foremost, I would like to express my gratitude to Central Philippine University–a hallowed institution of profound knowledge and has been the cradle of our intellectual growth. It provided us with rigorous and demanding training, but exceptional teaching. The faculty members, who, not only have imparted valuable knowledge, but, likewise, nurtured our critical thinking and innovative abilities. Their indefatigable guidance and assurance in helping us to succeed, molded us to become better scholars and researchers. For these, we are deeply grateful and humbled.

Likewise, it is but fitting and proper to extend our heartfelt thanks to our families. The selfless sacrifices and unwavering support extended–allowed us to surmount the trials and challenges, as we devote ourselves wholeheartedly to our studies. They stood by us during those trying moments, when we needed them most, contributing in every step of the way, to what we have achieved today. The joy of graduation is shared with them, as well.

Reflecting on our four years of academic pursuit, we have not only acquired specialized knowledge, but, more importantly, learned the art of problem solving—identifying and finding solutions. From the accumulation of classroom knowledge to practical fieldwork–from selecting research topics to overcoming the challenges of dissertation writing and defense–we cannot discount our many failures and setbacks. However, through these experiences, we have developed resilience and determination. We were not spared failures along the way, yet we have learned from those failures, which enabled us to grow and constantly improve. Through our progression, the faculty members did not falter—as they patiently guided us and taught us–the right attitude that nurtured us to become lifelong learners.

Moreover, let us never forget the wisdom and knowledge afforded by our mentors–the friendships forged with our classmates, and the emotional bond within the bounds of our so-called academic community. These will be cherished throughout our life’s journey–as tangible and invaluable assets to safeguard.

Looking ahead, let us propose with fervent hope, a commitment to keep, EXCEL (Exemplary Christian Education for Life), fixed in our hearts and in our minds. Most importantly, let us continue to keep alive the Central Spirit, as we embark in the next chapters of our lives.
Kudos to all of us!

Thank you very much.
