Resource speaker J. Galang lectures on Financial Literacy and Management at the University Church , CPU.
The University Church Board of Christian Education, and Deacons sponsored a free seminar on “Financial Solutions Today.” The seminar was held on August 25, 2018. Faculty, staff and retirees were invited to a financial literacy session conducted by a team from Nutriwealth Foundation School of Wealth and Wellness.
The seminar entitled “Building a Strong Financial Foundation” presented knowledge and ideas that are timely and helpful to employees, young people, and retirees. Resource speaker Jay Galang, founder and chairman of Nutriwealth, lectured on Value Chain Methodology.
Young people, faculty and staff and retirees joined the Financial Solutions Seminar at the University Church, CPU.
The participants were enlightened on the following topics: The Law of Building Wealth, the Law of Decreasing Responsibilities and the Rule of Money—all discussed with Biblical references. A formula on financial success was also shared by Mr. Galang. He reminded the participants that “financial planning and management principles should be observed in implementing a business or project.” He added, “The two most important principles are cash flow and stewardship.” Galang also emphasized that the cash flow must be guarded with stewardship.
The Value Chain Formula, a principle which Galang’s Foundation shares, is about involving the farmers, producers, and consumers in the blessings of God. As an example, he shared the idea that farmers can benefit from the value chain, which is producing rice and crops and selling it by themselves to supermarkets instead of selling to traders who rakes up most of the profits by whole selling it to the markets.

A CEW convocation in University Church during the Second Semester of School Year 2019-2020.
Central Philippine University will hold the first virtual Christ Emphasis Week celebrations for the first semester on November. Details on the final date will be announced soon.
This semester’s theme, “LSI on a PPE” (Love-Sustained-Individuals on Promised-Propelled Existence), focuses on God’s loving power and promise in these uncertain times. The theme is based on Romans 8:35-39.
“As LSI’s, we are love-sustained-individuals. God, in His love, sent His son Jesus to save us from sin and death. It is a kind of love that, in St. Paul’s words, “nothing can separate us from”; not even the awful threat of death,” said University Church Senior Pastor Rev. Cris Amorsolo Sian.
Rev. Sian also emphasized that even as God’s beloved, we are not immune from suffering and the Bible reminds us that God’s love is greater than all powers that threaten to crush us down.
“Furthermore, we are encouraged as believers to live a promise-propelled-existence (PPE). We are enjoined by the Christ who has called us not to be paralyzed by fear but be propelled by faith in God who promised to never leave us nor forsake us. Sustained by God’s promises, we are admonished to live out our calling to be the “light and salt” of the earth. We pray, therefore, that everyone (especially the afflicted) will see the face of the loving Christ in the way we live, serve and love,” he added.
To adhere to health and safety protocols, the Christ Emphasis Week will be held virtually and will air on CPU TV’s YouTube channel and Facebook page.

Forty-six (46) fourth year Agriculture students participated in the event. Painting 10 garbage bins, the students related the artworks to campus discipline and bio-diversity found in nature. Dr. Romallosa thanked the students and acknowledged their talent in painting. “Let’s aim for a clean and sustainable CPU Campus,” Romallosa emphasized. “Matahum (beautiful),” Engr. Jeriel Militar of the College of Engineering added.

The activity theme, “Agriculture and Environment” from which the project stems, brings a reminder that from Dee Lucena, one of the faculty members of the CPU College of Agriculture, Resources and Environmental Sciences that “what may be good for consumers, may be bad for the environment and animals, unless they pass through some treatment process.”
The Paint-A-Bin Project is an awareness activity that supports CPU’s bio-diversity drive, an advocacy for a sustainable campus development.
