Department heads and faculty members from all colleges participate in a whole-day seminar on Outcomes-Based Education (OBE) assessment and curriculum alignment held at the Mary Thomas Audio-Visual Room on May 13, 2026, as part of the university’s continuing efforts to strengthen faculty competencies and uphold global academic standards.
As the academic year 2026-27 looms around the corner, the department heads and faculty members of all colleges convened at the Mary Thomas Audio-Visual Room on May 13, 2026, for a whole-day seminar focused on course and program outcomes assessment grounded on the principles of Outcomes-Based Education (OBE).
Spearheaded by the Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Merle Lorca-Junsay, the OBE committee organized the event so that heads and their corresponding faculty, in pursuit of professional development and global competitiveness, would be able to discuss the university OBE framework and curriculum implementation, and create course and program outcomes evaluation summaries that observe OBE concepts and principles.
In the morning, Dr. Merle L. Junsay gave an overview of OBE assessment. She also outlined the different levels of outcomes and the university’s CPU implementation guide. Moreover, it was emphasized that the efforts of the university to constantly reevaluate and align its curricula to OBE and develop faculty members’ OBE competence are aligned with CMO No. 46, s. 2012, accreditation standards, and the ASEAN University Network-Quality Assurance (AUN-QA).
Afterwards, Engr. Caesar Rico Acanto presented the details and the framework that allows and ascertains the implementation of Outcomes-Based Assessment (OBA). The program culminated with the faculty completing and submitting three forms to show the alignment of all outcomes to their corresponding assessments. The seminar ended with a commitment from the participants to remain OBE advocates.
The event was made possible as a result of the contribution of the University OBE Committee led by Dr. Merle L. Junsay and the following members: Engr. Caesar Acanto, Dr. Maredil Ambos, Dr. Joel Durban, Engr. Christsam Jaspe Santander, and Asst. Prof. Bryan Paul L. Espinosa.
