The Central Philippine University (CPU) Tumandok Dance Company is featured in the April 2026 issue of the KIFA Report Magazine Vol. 135, published by the Kawachinagano City International Association (KIFA).
The magazine highlights the cultural engagement of CPU students in Japan, with its cover page featuring students enjoying a ride at the Cycle Coaster MOZZU-2 in the Kansai Cycle Sports Center during their break.
A key feature in the publication is the Filipino Folk Dance Performance held on February 21, 2026 (Saturday) at the Civic Exchange Center Event Hall. The performance showcased a vibrant presentation of Philippine culture through dance.
According to the article, “The performance featured introductions to dance transitions from various parts of the Philippines,” offering audiences a glimpse into the country’s diverse cultural heritage.
The report further noted that the opening segment of the dance emphasized deeper cultural meaning, stating, “Initially, the dance reflects the strength, endurance, and deep divinity of the Cordillera, the indigenous people of Northern Luzon, as well as their connection to nature, ancestral beliefs, and the sharing of cooperation within the community.”
Notably, the Central Philippine University Tumandok Dance Company held its 4th Annual International Cultural Exchange Program in Osaka and Wakayama Prefecture, Japan, from February 17 to 25, 2026. The group was invited by the Kawachinagano International Friendship Association and, with the support of the Osaka in the World Committee, comprised 14 student dancers from junior high to college levels, along with their adviser and artistic director, Asst. Prof. Randy Lero.
