The National Service Training Program (NSTP) of Central Philippine University (CPU) conducted its Culminating Activity on April 25, 2026, at the Rose Memorial Auditorium, attended by Civic Welfare Training Service (CWTS) students and instructors.

The program opened with a short devotional led by Mrs. Emcy J. Sanchez, followed by a prayer facilitated by Mrs. Melanie G. Hermano and Mrs. Mariana T. Erdao. Assoc. Prof. Annalie D. Gilongos, NSTP Coordinator, delivered the opening remarks, emphasizing the importance of service, discipline, and community involvement among participants.

An inspirational message was delivered by Mr. Prim C. Vergara III, RN, I.E.A., Safety Officer IV and University Occupational Safety and Health Officer, who encouraged the graduates to embrace their responsibility as future leaders and community servants.

He said, “Today marks more than the completion of an academic requirement-it marks the beginning of a responsibility, that is the responsibility to serve the community.”

Vergara emphasized that NSTP-CWTS has shaped students’ awareness of societal realities, noting that they have seen communities, understood challenges, and realized that change does not always begin with grand gestures but often with small, consistent acts of service.

He further reminded the graduates that leadership is developed through experience, stating, “Leadership is a developed skill. Effective leadership is nurtured through experience, learning, and conscious effort.”

He also added that one does not need a title, rank, or recognition to lead and make a difference.

Vergara also stressed the importance of civic responsibility beyond graduation, saying, “After this ceremony, you are all officially graduates of NSTP-CWTS SY 2025–2026 and automatic members of the National Service Reserve Corps by virtue of Republic Act 9163 or the NSTP Act of 2001.”

He likewise recognized NSTP faculty members and commended cluster leaders, noting their role as examples of servant leadership.

The ceremony also featured intermission numbers and response messages from selected student representatives, Mr. Ivan Vincent F. Buaag and Mr. Anthony Ernest Gimeno, who shared reflections on their NSTP experiences and personal growth. The giving of certificates was conducted in segments, recognizing the students’ successful completion of program requirements.

A video presentation highlighted key NSTP activities, followed by the closing remarks of Mrs. Ma. Leen C. Gahum, CWTS Coordinator, who commended the students for their dedication and active participation.

The event concluded with the Alma Mater Song and a closing prayer led by Ms. Pamela S. Lactupo, formally ending the program. The activity was emceed by Ms. Chilou P. Batoon, RL.
