Dr. Merle L. Junsay, Acting Vice President for Academic Affairs, delivers the welcome remarks at the Joint Meeting of the Council of NSTP Educators of Region VI and the Department of National Defense at the Conference Room of the Henry Luce III Library.

Central Philippine University (CPU), through its National Service Training Program (NSTP), hosted the Joint Meeting of the Council of NSTP Educators of Region VI (CNER VI) and the Department of National Defense (DND) on June 4, 2026, at the Conference Room of the Henry Luce III Library.

The program commenced with registration, coffee, and breakfast, followed by opening preliminaries that included an opening prayer, the singing of the Philippine National Anthem, and the CPU Alma Mater Song. Participants were welcomed by Dr. Merle L. Junsay, Acting Vice President for Academic Affairs, while the acknowledgment of participants was delivered by Assoc. Prof. Annalie D. Gilongos, NSTP Coordinator.

A message was also delivered by Mrs. Ann Grazielle Arcenas, CHED-NSTP Focal Person, emphasizing the significance of collaboration among educational institutions and government agencies in advancing NSTP initiatives and promoting civic engagement among students.

The event served as the venue for the CNER VI Council Meeting, presided over by Dr. Elmer Albaladejo. During the meeting, members discussed several agenda items, including DND concerns, the integration of labor education into NSTP, and proposed revisions to the council’s bylaws, particularly on issues concerning vacant positions and the inclusion of retired officers as ex-officio members of the board.

Council members also tackled matters related to membership plans, institutional and lifetime membership fees, especially for officers, as well as other concerns affecting NSTP operations in the region.

The gathering highlighted the shared commitment of educators, administrators, and government partners to strengthen NSTP programs and enhance their role in developing responsible, service-oriented, and nation-building citizens. The program was emceed by Mrs. Hannah Lee S. Canlas of the CPU-CWTS faculty member.
