Engr. Jeremias A. Gonzaga, National Research Council of the Philippines (NRCP) RD Leader, facilitates the technical engagement as part of the AdvancE TECH Project implemented through the OVPRDE’s WEAVE Program.

The Office of the Vice President for Research, Development, and Extension (OVPRDE), together with the University Research Center (URC), conducted a two-day Assessment of the Wind Tunnel Facility and Training on Basic Airfoil Simulation and Instrument Calibration on July 23–24, 2026 at the CPUGAD Technology Business Incubator (TBI) Co-Working Space.

The activity was led by Engr. Jeremias A. Gonzaga, National Research Council of the Philippines (NRCP) RD Leader, as part of his technical engagement with Central Philippine University (CPU). The activity marked the final deliverable of his NRCP RD Leader engagement, completing the expected outputs under the AdvancE TECH: Advancing Engineering and Technology Research and Development Capabilities at Central Philippine University (CPU) Project implemented through the OVPRDE’s WEAVE Program.

During this engagement, Engr. Gonzaga paid a courtesy visit to Rev. Dr. Ernest Howard B. Dagohoy, University President, where they discussed the progress of the wind tunnel facility initiative and the University’s plans for its development. He also conducted an assessment of the facility to evaluate its current condition, identify technical requirements, and recommend improvements necessary for its operational readiness. A roadmap for the establishment and operation of the CPU Wind Tunnel Facility was also developed to guide its implementation, capacity-building initiatives, and future milestones for the next five years.

The engagement, which officially began on April 22, 2026, concluded with the Training on Basic Airfoil Simulation and Instrument Calibration for faculty members of the College of Engineering and College of Computer Studies. The training provided participants with essential knowledge and practical skills in airfoil simulation and instrument calibration, which are necessary for future aerodynamic testing, research activities, and utilization of the wind tunnel facility.

The completion of the assessment, roadmap development, and technical training signifies the successful fulfillment of the NRCP RD Leader engagement with CPU. These outputs provide a strong foundation for the development of the University’s wind tunnel facility and enhance its capacity for engineering research, innovation, and technology development.

Through this collaborative initiative, the OVPRDE and the University Research Center continue to strengthen CPU’s research infrastructure by developing technical expertise, enhancing research facilities, and fostering partnerships that advance science, engineering, and innovation.
