Dr. Zerrudo and Prof. Gotico completing the 18th AUN-QA Tier 1 Training Course held in Bangkok, Thailand.

On April 1-5, 2024, Dr. Anna May Zerrudo and Prof. Sharlene Gotico, Director and Associate Director of the Quality Assurance and Accreditation Center (QAAC), respectively, attended the ASEAN University Network – Quality Assurance (AUN-QA) Training Course for Accomplishing Programme Assessment (AUN-QA Tier 1 Training), Version 4.0 in Bangkok, Thailand.

The Tier 1 Training provided participants with a complete walk-through of the AUN-QA programme assessment process and the eight criteria for assessment with lectures and workshops facilitated by Dr. Tan Kay Chuan, AUN-QA Lead Assessor and Associate Professor of the Department of Industrial Systems Engineering and Management of the National University of Singapore; Mr. Prem Anand Arjunan, Director of Accreditation of the Finance Accreditation Agency (FAA); and Dr. Yu Un Oppusunggu, AUN-QA Lead Assessor and Council Member and Faculty of Law, Universitas Indonesia. Organized by the AUN-QA, this 18th batch of the Tier 1 Training drew over 40 participants from different ASEAN countries – the Philippines, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Thailand.

With Dr. Zerrudo and Prof. Gotico’s completion of the AUN-QA Tier 1 Training, the QAAC will embark on preparations for the university’s application for associate membership in the AUN-QA and later, identify possible academic programs to undergo programme assessment. These activities are all part of the QAAC’s functional objectives. Furthermore, membership to the AUN-QA and program assessment are included in CPU’s five-year strategic plan (2023-2028).
