Partnership for Resilience: Representatives from JSWAP-CPU and the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) Iloilo during the handover of donated books, reinforcing the spirit of collaboration.
In partnership with the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) Iloilo, the Central Philippine University’s Junior Social Workers Association of the Philippines (JSWAP-CPU) recently concluded a meaningful book donation drive under the program titled “You Are Only One Book Away From a Good Mood.” This initiative, part of PSWDO’s Program for the Resilience of Iloilo in Mind and Emotion (PRIME), ran from October 2 to October 30, 2024.
The PRIME initiative aims to promote mental health and emotional well-being across Iloilo province. With the specific objectives of providing access to books that inspire self-development and supporting vulnerable groups, the drive targeted two key beneficiaries: residents of Balay Pagbag-o, a rehabilitation and reintegration facility, and students utilizing teen centers throughout the province.
The donation drive focused on collecting books addressing the diverse needs of its beneficiaries, including self-help and personal growth books, children’s books, women’s empowerment books, and mental health and well-being books.
Generous donors contributed a variety of resources, reinforcing the campaign’s mission to spark minds, inspire change, and promote resilience within the community.
Donations were dropped off at the Mary Thomas Building on the CPU campus, where JSWAP-CPU volunteers worked diligently to process and deliver the collected books to PSWDO Iloilo.
JSWAP-CPU and PSWDO expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the donors who participated in the drive, highlighting the importance of community efforts in advancing mental health advocacy.
The PRIME initiative stands as a testament to the transformative power of collaboration, with both organizations remaining committed to promoting mental health awareness across Iloilo province.
