For three years in a row now, CPU is once again recognized by the Iloilo Provincial Public Employment Service Office (PESO) for its collaboration with the agency in facilitating its employment programs and services.  Held at the Grand Ballroom, Zuri Hotel Iloilo this April 10, 2025, the 2024 Governor’s Award and Search for BEST PESO recognized partner agencies, HEIs and best performing LGUs in the province.

In his message of support for HEIs implementers, Hon. Rolando B. Distura, Board member, 4th Congressional district and member of the Committee on Labor and Employment, stressed the importance of having avenues for employment facilitation within the reach of the people as this makes both the implementer and beneficiaries’ productive citizens of the community therefore contributing to its growth.

Ms. Rouella Cheyenne C. Aberia, Job Placement Officer, represented CPU as CPU President, Rev. Dr Ernest Howard B. Dagohoy is currently in the United States. The JPO has provided assistance to the IPG PESO for its Job fairs, Special Recruitment Activities and Labor Market Information database build-up. In turn, in recognition of this, PESO has also sponsored an intern under their Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) program, to go on duty for a month at the JPO. In January of 2024, it can be recalled that CPU, through the JPO, signed a MOA with the IPG-PESO to formalize the partnership.

The event capped with the announcement of winners for the BEST LGU PESO AWARD. The event was attended by mayors and congressmen of the province, as well as provincial and regional directors of partner agencies of PESO. Also joining for the first time this year’s roster of institutions with CPU, University of San Agustin and University of Iloilo were St. Therese-Iloilo, West Visayas State University, John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University and Iloilo State University of Fisheries Science and Technology and University of the Philippines, Visayas.
