Frances Dhayanah Villaruel Leonora, a 20-year-old second year Bachelor of Science in Management Accounting student at Central Philippine University (CPU), added another feather to her cap by being named Ms. Regional Ambassador of Goodwill – 1st Runner-Up during the prestigious competition held at the University of San Agustin-Iloilo on January 19, 2025. Organized by the National Federation of Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants (NFJPIA) – Region VI, the event brought together outstanding individuals from across the region to celebrate leadership, advocacy, and community service.
The Miss Ambassador of Goodwill title represents more than just a crown; it’s a commitment to promoting humanitarian efforts, fostering positive change, and serving as a beacon of hope within communities. Recipients of this title actively engage in advocacies such as education, health, and environmental sustainability, encouraging others to contribute to societal welfare.
When asked about her inspiration to represent CPU in the competition, Frances shared, “My inspiration stems from a profound commitment to my community and the values instilled in me by this esteemed institution. Central Philippine University has nurtured a sense of service and excellence within me, empowering me to champion causes that uplift and inspire others.”
Frances’ journey to the crown was marked by dedication and preparation. Her accolades during the competition, including Best in Mock Interview and Best in Gown, were a testament to her hard work. She credits her mentors—Sir Xavier Brian Gargalicano, Sir Paul Cornel Dela Cruz, and Franz Oliver Naelgas—for their guidance and support. Her gown, a creation of designer Sir Fritz Caancan, perfectly embodied elegance and grace, complementing her natural poise.
For Frances, the most memorable moments during the competition were the connections she formed with fellow contestants and the personal growth she experienced. “One of the most memorable moments was a heartfelt group discussion about our passions and dreams. This experience taught me the importance of empathy and collaboration,” she recounted. “Winning the title is a dream come true, but the friendships and shared experiences are the true rewards.”
As 1st Runner-Up, Frances plans to use her platform to inspire fellow Centralians and beyond. “I envision organizing workshops and outreach programs that empower individuals to harness their unique talents for the greater good,” she said. She also aims to amplify positive narratives on social media, encouraging young people to become proactive changemakers.
Frances’ advocacy focused on empowering youth through education and mental health awareness, a theme that deeply resonated with the judges and audience. Her genuine desire to connect and make an impact helped her stand out, earning her titles such as Miss PWC Award and Best in Casual Wear.
Frances expressed her heartfelt gratitude to CPU and the Junior Philippine Association of Management Accountants (JPAMA) Organization for their unwavering support. “The values instilled in me during my time at CPU have shaped my character and resolve, equipping me with the tools needed to face challenges head-on,” she shared.
