CPU Social Work Department Faculty Members, CPU Junior Social Workers Association Officers and representatives from partner organizations with residents of a coastal barangay in Carles, Iloilo.
The CPU Social Work Department together with the CPU Junior Social Workers Association, Florita and Volker Weber and Friends, American Protestant Church-Bonn, Germany and YMCA Iloilo distributed relief goods to 5 barangays in Carles, Iloilo on Thursday, January 9, 2020.
Houses made of light materials were severely damaged by the storm.
The team went to Balasan to visit CPU College of Theology alumnus Pastor Roy Paz, whose house was destroyed by the typhoon.
The relief goods were given to residents of barangays Luyo, Poblacion, Cabilao, Cabuguana, and Cambalatong.

Carles, a municipality in Northern Iloilo was heavily affected by Typhoon Ursula which struck Panay on Christmas Day, December 25, 2019. Houses and infrastructure were heavily damaged and 26 people were killed. 16 in Iloilo, and 5 each in Aklan and Capiz.
“The social work department together with our partner organizations are very happy that we were able to distribute packs of relief goods to families who are survivors of typhoon Ursula. We are very thankful to our volunteers and to everyone who participated to help our brothers and sisters in Carles,” Prof. Kareen Lozada, CPU Social Work Department Chairperson said.
