The Association of Christian Schools, Colleges, and Universities Accrediting Council, Inc. (ACSU-ACI) has granted Level IV accreditation to the Liberal Arts Program of the Central Philippine University. Meanwhile, the Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Bachelor of Science in Social Work programs have received Level III Accreditations following the recently concluded accreditation process in 2023.

“It’s a great achievement for all of us, the faculty, the staff, and the administration,” Dean Stella Fernandez said in an interview with the ASVP.

“Supposedly, our first accreditation was scheduled for September, but we have already set the different committees by July,” Dean Fernandez shared when asked about the college’s preparations for the accreditation. “So, we were able to come up and prepare these documents already, so I told them, ‘Just be prepared whenever the accreditation proper will [happen],” she added. The preparation for this re-accreditation program covered the documents from the period of 2017 to 2022.

When asked about the areas that the College of Arts and Sciences needs work on, Dean Fernandez shared that they are seeking to work on the development of the college’s outreach programs, research, quality of instruction (specifically the qualification of the faculty), and the improvement of the physical facilities in general.

“We want to maintain that the programs will be at level IV as much as possible,” Dean Fernandez stated, being asked about her plans for the future of CAS. She also emphasized that the DOST would only allow their scholars to enroll in accredited programs at least level 3 or level 4, and then shared about the proposition of the Center of Development, which the college hopes to be accepted by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).

The accreditations were granted last December 11, 2023, after being assessed in October of the same year. These accreditations will be valid until December 2028, as endorsed by the CHED’s Memorandum Order Number 1, Series of 2005.
