The CPU High School class of 1974 celebrated its Golden Anniversary Reunion on April 18, 2024, at the EMC Conference Room.
This remarkable gathering has been graced by a total of 109 participants. They started the day by having their breakfast together, and after that, they paid a courtesy call to the CPU President, Dr. Ernest Howard B. Dagohoy.
The program proper kicked off with opening remarks from Dr. Elmer Q. Pedregosa, Administrator of Iloilo Mission Hospital. “This is to create an environment where past memories are cherished and we are also connected to the future, and this will make the reunion meaningful,” he said. Dr. Pedregosa also mentioned the things that were known to them during their generation, such as Citizen’s Army Training (CAT), NCEE, afro hairstyles, longhair, bell bottoms, Levi’s, and known musicians and artists of their generation.
Dr. Pedregosa also shared a bible passage from Ephesians 4:32: “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God has forgiven you.” He added that in this passage, Paul has summarized the biblical message that we have to be kind, compassionate, and forgiving.
There was also an introduction to participants based on the registration form. All of them waved their hands and stood as their names were called. Following the introduction of attendees, they also joyfully sang the song ‘Central, my Central.’
They also took this opportunity to recognize the presence of their teachers who attended the homecoming. They were Ma’am Thelma Marmolejo-Haguisan, Sir Nelson Andong Pomado, and Ma’am Evelyn Solas-Buenafe.
This reunion serves as an opportunity to reconnect Centralians with their old friends and reminisce about moments together. As Dr. Elmer Q. Pedregosa said, “This is a generation that is passing and unfortunately will never return, no matter how hard we try.”
