The CPU College of Packaging Engineering has been invited to take part in holding a free seminar about packaging development on April 29, 2024, in Festive Walk Mall, Iloilo.

In a collaborative effort by the Local Economic Development and Investment Promotion (LEDIP) Office and the Iloilo City Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) Center, the first ever Iloilo City’s Festival of Food has commenced. As part of their celebration, the CPU College of Packaging Engineering took part in the said event by preparing a seminar focusing on packaging development.

Engr. Bernie Cangrejo, Head of the Packaging Engineering Department, spearheaded the seminar entitled, “Packaging Development for MSMEs: Sustainable Packaging Options for Local Food Products.” During the talk, he emphasized the CPU BS Packaging Engineering Program as the first and only program of its kind in the Philippines and its mission and vision. He also shared the program’s initiatives, such as projects considering sustainable designs and solutions, capstone research and freshmen design projects, a 3-unit subject on sustainability and circularity in packaging, and an awareness campaign towards social and behavioral change on sustainable packaging and practices.

The successful collaboration of this event demonstrated the institution’s commitment to creating strong connections between industry, government, and the community for sustainability and development.
