Central Philippine University (CPU) extends heartfelt congratulations to its new Centralian Lawyers for successfully passing the #BarNiJLo2024. To God be the highest glory!
Central Philippine University (CPU) proudly announces that thirty-four (34) Centralian examinees passed the 2024 Bar Examinations, the results of which were released by the Supreme Court on December 13, 2024.
First-time takers from CPU achieved a passing rate of 52.78%, while the national passing rate for this year’s Bar Examination is 37.84%, with a total of 3,962 examinees passing. This year’s results have been dubbed the #MostValuableLaban, reflecting the Supreme Court’s decision to lower the passing grade from 75% to 74%.
Bar Chairperson, Associate Justice Mario Lopez, explained the adjustment: “Instead of 75, the good justices headed by the Chief Justice [Alexander Gesmundo] voted unanimously to adopt the grade of 74 as a passing grade… The justices would like to have more lawyers. Ayaw nila na 3,000 lang ang new lawyers but they want more lawyers…And there are several reasons why we need more lawyers, and of course, one of the many reasons perhaps is the scarcity of lawyers in some areas.”
The 2024 Bar Examinations were held on September 8, 11, and 15, 2024, in 13 local testing centers, including CPU. Successful examinees will be sworn in during the oath-taking ceremony and the signing of the Roll of Attorneys on January 24, 2025.
