What to do during an earthquake?

The big field is the designated evacuation area in case of an earthquake.

A one hour campus wide earthquake drill participated by all departments and offices was held on Monday March 12, 2018.  This was not for the sole purpose of compliance for Ched, ISO or any academic evaluation requirement.

One of the important objectives of an earthquake drill at Central Philippine University is to test the readiness and evaluate the capability of everyone in the University, when there is an earthquake. Everyone from the Administration down to the lowest rank and file employee has to follow a standard procedure during the drill.

A first aid simulation was also conducted during the earthquake drill.

Participants should secure themselves by observing the drop – cover and hold policy while the sound of the siren continues (assuming that the earthquake is still going on). The procedure has to be followed until the Chairman has announce that the earthquake drill is over. VPFA Florence P. Bogacia is Chair of the CPU Disaster Management Committee.

A video presentation on what to do during earthquakes was shown at the Alumni Promenade Concert Park before the start of the drill. The simulation ran for about two hours – from 8:30 AM to around 10:30 AM.
