CPU Golden Lions bring home athletic awards from the National PRISAA 2018
CPU Golden Lions Women Softball Team bagged the Championship in the 2018 PRISAA National Games.
The recently concluded National Private Schools Athletic Association (PRISAA) Meet in Tagbilaran City, Bohol included the Golden Lions athletes from Central Philippine University.
Thirty Six athletes from the secondary and Thirty Five from the Tertiary level, or a total of 71 athletes from CPU were sent to join the Iloilo delegation in the national PRISAA. The Golden Lions were hailed 1st Runner Up in the Secondary Boys Athletics Competition Team; with 3 individual Bronze Medal and 2 Gold Medals.
Three Champions and Two 1st Runner Up Winners were included in the Secondary Boys and Girls Chess Tournament Team – with Ronel C. Ballesteros and Mark Jossel S. Mariano (Head Coach and Asst. Coach, respectively). The Golden Lions brought home in this event One Gold Medal and One Individual Silver Medal.
In Swimming Secondary Boys and Girls, the Team got a Champion and One 1st Runner Up; with 2 individual Bronze Medals, 3 Silver and 1 Gold Medals. For Table Tennis Secondary Boys the Team has 2 Champions with 1 Gold Doubles. Five Champions were won by the Team in Table Tennis Secondary Girl- withTwo Gold Doubles, 1 Gold Singles and 1 Gold Mixed Pairs awards. Simplicio G. Gayos Jr. was the Head Coach for the event.
Five Champions were also won for the Taekwondo Secondary Boys Team with Individual Medals: 1 Bronze, 1Silver and 2 Golds and a Gold and Bronze Individual Medal Awards. Alan J. Diasnes and Floramie G. Navales were Head Coach and Assistant Coach, respectively. For Taekwondo Secondary Girls 3 Champions were won. Individual – 2 Silver and 2 Gold medals were garnered by the Team.
Two Champions and 2 Silver doubles were won by the Team in Tennis Secondary Boys. For Tennis Secondary Girls: 3 Champions with 2 Gold Doubles and 1 Gold Singles were won in Tennis Secondary Girls – with Head Coach Alquinn M. Flores. Finally the Volleyball Secondary Girls Team won 2 Champions.
Defeating Calabarzon – the CPU Golden Lions Women Volleyball Team was hailed as champions.
The Golden Lions also participated in the Iloilo Team – with 1 athlete for Basketball Tertiary Women; One participant in the Football Tertiary Men Team which won a 2nd Runner Up; Two participants was with the Karatedo Tertiary Men and Women.
For Sepak Takraw Tertiary Men, 6 Golden Lions participants won 1st Runner Up – with their Head Coach Keith Dune R. Gallos. All seven participants from the Golden Lions were Champions in Softball Tertiary Women – with their Pitching Coach, Jergen P. Peñafiel, Pastor Mark Arliss A Cloma, Asst. Coach and Pastor Kim B. De La Cruz, Head Coach.
The Taekwondo Tertiary Men and Women has 3 participants and has 2 bronze medals and 1 Silver medals won in the Team event. The Volleyball Tertiary Men and Women had bagged the Championship with Giovanni A. Yu and Anthony Arnilla as Asst. Coach and Head Coach, respectively.
