Dear friends,
In one of the parables of Jesus, there were two builders who heard the Word of God. After the storm, one was declared a wise builder while the other one was called a foolish builder.
What is a WISE person?
W – Willing to listen to the Word of God
Matthew 7:24 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock.
The wise person in the story listened intently. Meaning, he listened with a purpose in mind, and that purpose is to learn lessons and apply it in his life.
The fool also listened but it was not with the intent of learning a lesson. He was probably there just to be counted as someone who attended the gathering, or to refute everything that was said.
I – Inquire more about the Word of God
Matthew 7:25 And the rain came down and the rivers came and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it did not collapse, because its foundation was laid on the rock.
This verse reminds us to dig deeper in our study of the Bible. A reading for the sake reading the Bible is like the fool builder who haphazardly built his house. It resulted into a shallow foundation that consequently destroyed the house. If we are grounded in the Bible, then our faith is rooted in the truth, and it will not waver when the storms of life comes.
S – Show the Word of God in his/her life
A true proof of being a Christian is in the obedience of the Word of God. We must not be merely hearers of the Word, but more importantly, as doers of the Word. The best version of the Bible is not NIV nor KJV or any other versions, but it is the Applied to Daily Life Version.
E – Enjoy the security of the Word of God
Here is the reality. Our faith has been tested, is being tested, and will continue to be tested. There will be no rest of tests in this life.
Many people have professed their commitment to Christ but some have fallen when the testing comes. They deny their faith when it becomes inconvenient and difficult.
There are many tests in life but the real test is the testing of our faith in Jesus Christ.
Sincerely,
