CPU Junior High School students are recognized for their academic achievements during the Honors and Awards Ceremony held on March 30, 2026, at the Rose Memorial Auditorium.
Central Philippine University (CPU) Junior High School held its Honors and Awards Ceremony on March 30, 2026, at the Rose Memorial Auditorium, recognizing students for their academic excellence, character, and perseverance throughout the school year.
The program opened with a Bible verse from Proverbs 16:3, followed by a musical prayer, invocation, and the singing of the Philippine National Anthem and the CPU Alma Mater Song, setting a solemn and reflective tone for the celebration.
Present during the ceremony were Junior High School Principal Prof. Charlett B. Dianala, Assistant Principal Prof. Lilian Rose J. Asesor, University President Rev. Dr. Ernest Howard B. Dagohoy, Vice President for Student Affairs Dr. Esther Rose A. Romarate, PTA President for School Year 2025–2026 Prof. Annalie D. Gilongos, along with faculty members, parents, and students.
In her welcome remarks, Prof. Charlett B. Dianala expressed her appreciation for the students’ dedication and achievements. She encouraged them to remain grounded in faith as they continue their academic journey, citing Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me,” as a reminder that their success is rooted not only in effort but also in divine guidance.
Delivering her message, Dr. Esther Rose A. Romarate highlighted the importance of motivation and purpose behind academic success. She expressed her gratitude to the awardees, their parents, and the faculty and staff for their continuous support. Drawing from her personal experience as a student, she shared how recognition ceremonies once symbolized reward and excitement, but challenged students to reflect on their deeper purpose. She encouraged them to examine whether they strive for recognition, material rewards, or personal fulfillment, emphasizing that true success lies in understanding one’s purpose. Citing Proverbs 2:6, she reminded the audience that wisdom comes from the Lord, urging students to remain grateful and to acknowledge God in all their achievements.
University President Rev. Dr. Ernest Howard B. Dagohoy followed with a message emphasizing that while awards are meaningful, character remains essential. He congratulated the awardees and reminded them that academic recognition is only one aspect of personal growth. Highlighting CPU’s core values—faith, character, justice, stewardship, and excellence—he encouraged students to embody these principles in their daily lives. He also emphasized the University’s guiding philosophy, Scientia et Fides, describing it as the seamless integration of knowledge and faith in shaping individuals holistically. Quoting biblical passages, he urged students to set an example in speech, conduct, love, faith, and purity, and to trust in the Lord in all aspects of their journey.
The ceremony was further enriched by a musical performance from the Tabares siblings, adding a celebratory atmosphere to the program.
A significant part of the event highlighted the role of parents in shaping students’ success. Representing mothers, Mrs. Mary Claire Escuarda Laru-an delivered a heartfelt message that reflected resilience, faith, and perseverance. Sharing her personal journey as a solo parent, she spoke about the challenges her family faced following the passing of her husband and how these experiences shaped both her and her children. She emphasized the importance of raising children who are not only academically capable but also independent, responsible, and resilient. She encouraged parents to support their children’s passions and opportunities, even when it requires sacrifice, and reminded students that life’s challenges can serve as opportunities for growth. She concluded by emphasizing gratitude, faith, and the belief that while everything happens for a reason, individuals must still do their best and trust God with the rest.
Representing fathers, Mr. Eliseo Ticar Jr. emphasized the importance of intentional parenting and active involvement in a child’s development. He highlighted that parenting goes beyond providing financial support, stressing the need for open communication, emotional support, and quality time. He shared insights on guiding children through different stages of growth, emphasizing that parents must also grow alongside their children. He noted that while academic success is important, it must be accompanied by good character, as intelligence alone cannot define a person. He also underscored the importance of grounding families in faith and remaining dependent on God in raising children.
Certificates of appreciation were awarded to Mrs. Mary Claire Escuarda Laru-an and Mr. Eliseo Ticar Jr. in recognition of their meaningful contributions to the ceremony.
The awarding proper followed, recognizing honor students from Grades 7 to 10. The presentation of awards was led by Prof. Charlett B. Dianala, Rev. Dr. Ernest Howard B. Dagohoy, Dr. Esther Rose A. Romarate, and Prof. Annalie D. Gilongos, who acknowledged the students’ academic achievements and ranks.
Representatives from each grade level were also introduced during the ceremony, including Ms. January Love Desamero for Grade 7, Associate Professor Mary Jane I. Español, Assistant Professor Shiela A. Java, and Mr. Dominique P. Endriga for Grade 8, Ms. Jessa Mae F. Escobin, Ms. Ann Margarette S. Paniagua, and Dr. Arlene D. Pet for Grade 9, and Mr. Hipolito C. Doroteo and Mrs. Erma Joy Garinganao for Grade 10.
In addition to academic awards, scholarships, cash incentives, and special recognitions for School Year 2025–2026 were awarded to deserving students. These were made possible through the generosity of alumni donors, including the High School Classes of 1951, 1953, and 1981, reflecting the continued support of the CPU community across generations.
The program also featured a dance presentation by student performers Corrine, Chelsea, Michaela, Keisha, Patrice, Kiana, Pamela, and Alona, under the guidance of Mrs. January Love A. Desamero, further adding vibrance and celebration to the event.
In her closing remarks, Prof. Lilian Rose J. Asesor emphasized that the awards represent not only academic excellence but also discipline, perseverance, and character. She challenged students to use their talents and abilities not only for personal success but also for the greater good. Highlighting CPU’s core values—justice, stewardship, excellence, character, and faith—she encouraged students to uphold these principles in all aspects of their lives. She reminded them that their achievements are gifts from God and should be used to serve others and create positive change.
The ceremony concluded with the singing of the CPU High School Hymn and a closing prayer, marking the end of a meaningful celebration that honored both achievement and character among CPU Junior High School students.
